Hiking holiday in South Tyrol

Here in St. Andrä / Brixen you will spend your holiday in a hiking paradise.

From the first sunrays of spring until late autumn you can explore the Eisack valley and especially the Plose massif, our local mountain, on a variety of hiking trails. No matter if you are coming just as hobby hikers, to make the first steps ever in hiking boots or as experienced skiers, for your hiking holiday in South Tyrol you will find excellent conditions in a varied landscape. As we know the region like the back of our hand, we will be pleased to give you route suggestions and have also ready for you the one or the other tip.

Gorgeous trails on and around the Plose

What do you like most? Do you want to start walking after you own plan or do you prefer professional guidance? From June to October certified mountain and hiking guides are ready to guide you in your hiking holidays, for example to a three-peak tour on the Plose, along the Brixner high route or the fantastic Dolomites panoramic path. You only need to determine how long to be on tour and how much time you have available. The range of possibilities is almost as limitless as the view from one of three Plose summits. Enjoy the famous panoramic views of the Plose to the nearby Dolomites across to Ortler. And if you want to go higher, then you put on your walking shoes and climb one of the other challenging peaks. You can also just leave for a hut tour and stop whenever you like. Or go with your kids along the Woody Walk, the entertaining family circular hiiking trail on the Plose with many exciting stations.

Vacation on two wheels? Biking in the surroundings of the Plose massif

The magnificent Plose massif is a real paradise not only for hikers, but also for those who dream of an exciting mountain bike holiday. Whether mountain biking or pleasurable cycling – everyone will find the best route to enjoy the impressive mountain scenery.

To explore the region around Brixen with an experienced guide, the bike school PloseBike offers guided bike tours six times a week. The program contains tours of different levels from Sunday to Friday (until mid-October).

Full-day tours: ca. from 9:30 am to 4 pm

There are four freeride-lines for mountain bikers in Brixen Bikepark, from very easy to challenging. The easiest Jerry Line is never too rough and never too tight: It is simply ideal for beginners and kids. The moderately difficult Hammer Line is also suitable for beginners but requires a certain security on the bike. The Sky Line as well as the Tom Pro Line are very challenging. Just advanced riders should try them out.
The Brixen Bikepark can be reached with the Plose gondola lift and the Palmschoß chair lift, where bikes are transported for free.

The Bikepark is open from 16th June to 14th October 2018.

Go to South Tyrol during Törggelen

Go to South Tyrol during Törggelen

When the leaves turn picturesquely their color and autumn draws the Eisack valley, get to know one of the most famous South Tyrolean traditions: the Törggelen. The old culinary tradition originated from the tasting of the young wine on farms and wine shops of our region. You can wonderfully combine Törggele with your hiking passion, because traditionally you should go walking from  farm to farm. You can crown your hiking holiday around St. Andrä / Brixen with hearty food, including treats such as ravioli, smoked pork with cabbage, sweet donuts and of course the mandatory chestnuts. Together a good drop of wine from South Tyrol, which again tastes so good after a hike.
